To move to , live and work in Finland ( the first step) you will need to apply for a work visa. See 1st site below. Then , after 6 years of continuous residence, you may apply for citizenship. Even if you meet all the requirements, this application is not always granted. See 2nd site. Learinng the language...take classes, go to language school. Of course, it would be wise to visit there first. Also, getting that work visa is far from easy.

How hard is it for an English speaking immigrant to get a job in Finland

How hard is it for an English speaking immigrant to get a job in Finland?
I live in Canada and here, even if you have a university degree from another country, it can be pretty hard for an immigrant to get a good job if they are not fluent in English. Immigrants usually work in fast food, factories, are janitors, etc. Is it the same in Finland? English is a pretty wide spread language, so would an English speaking person with limited Finnish be able to find a decent job?

Don't generalize too much. Everything in life is not written on stone in advance and it's all about what skills you posses. If you don't believe in your abilities on job hunt and in yourself then nobody else will do that for you and nobody else will have trust on you. It's simple and evil as that. Nevertheless it's very important to have faith in oneself, it's not enough if there's no jobs around or too many applicants, too much education, rising academic unemployment levels. It's all reality in Finland currently and we're going to see rising unemployment rates this year and later on. New IKEA store opened in Tampere and they currently are looking for staff. They received well over 8000 applications and they only have about 200 positions open. You could just count the probability of getting any of those jobs. Jobs that are on public sector may be more stable but they're not really that easy to get. I say you should consider any english speaking countries instead. It's really a global thing, immigrants may not become first unless they have unbeatable experience, skills. But hey even the native Finns have the same problems.

Would a Finnish xbox live card work on an American account

Would a Finnish xbox live card work on an American account?
Hi! I made my xbox live account in America, and then later moved to Finland. I still have the American xbox, which works fine, but I am not sure if a card I bought here from Gamestop would work with the American account. So, if I buy a xbox live card from a Finnish Gamestop, will it work with an American account? Thanks!

Can anyone tell me the what the curriculum is like in a high school in Finland?
If there are any students or former students who may have studied in Finland and in the United States and who can tell me of the differences between the two. If not possible, if there are Finnish students, (either current or former,) who could tell me what their course work was like in high school in Finland

There's a lot of info here: http://www.suomi.fi/suomifi/english/subjects/teaching_and_education/education_and_educational_institutions/index.html Look for "Upper secondary schools". Some links in that section are not working yet.

Most Finns start high school at the age of 16 and spend 3 years there. Many Finnish high schools call themselves upper secondary schools (the Finnish word is lukio). One course consists of 38 lessons and you have to take at least 75 courses to graduate. This is the basic curriculum: Äidinkieli ja kirjallisuus (Mother tongue: Finnish/Swedish) 6 compulsory + 3 optional Toinen kotimainen kieli (Finnish/Swedish, both are official languages in Finland so we have to learn both) 5 + 2 Vieras A-kieli (A language, advaced foreign language. Most Finns learn English) 6 + 2 Matematiikka (Math) 10 +3 (advaced) OR 6 / 2 (ordinary) Fysiikka (Physics) 1 + 7 Kemia (Chemistry) 1 + 4 Biologia (Biology) 2 + 3 Maantiede (Geography) 2 + 2 Historia (History) 4+2 Yhteiskuntaoppi (Social science) 2 +2 Uskonto tai elämänkatsomustieto (Religion or ethics) 3 + 2 Filosofia (Philosophy) 1 + 3 Psykologia (Psychology) 1 + 4 Musiikki ja Kuvataide (Music & Arts) 3 compulsory (1 art + 2 music or vice versa) + 3 optional Liikunta (PE) 2 + 3 Terveystieto (Healt and hygiene) 1 + 2 Opinto-ohjaus (Career conselling) 1 + 1 Compulsory courses are pretty much the same but optional courses vary between schools. Big schools usually have a large number of optional courses. French, German, Italian, Spanish, Data processing, Global studies and Driving are typical examples of optional courses.
