All PS3 games are region free, so any PS3 game will work on any PS3 in the World. Finland and Sweden both use PAL video signals, so you will have no problems. As long as you are staying in Europe, or any other part of the World that uses PAL video signals, you will never have a problem. If you do want to buy a game from a part of the World that uses NTSC (North America, Japan) video signals, then just use an HDMI cable and you will have no problems.
2 :
yep they are both pal All PS3 games are region free, isnt true but only a few are locked as finland and sweden are both pal they should work europe and Australia are pal also
3 :
yes all ps3 games and consoles are region free so that dont matter where you buy the console or games to put it in a simpler way you can buy a game from any where in the world and it will work on a ps3 bought from a diffrent place

Don't know, but why isn't it that easy for a NHL ref to get fined, suspended, or fired for complete idiocy.

He was from Sweden. I'm not sure if they ever published his name. It's strange because I don't think it was a fix unless he got paid. He wouldn't be doing Finland any favors because the swedes and the finns generally dislike each other especially when it comes to hockey.

Are there any legal age restrictions to work as an au pair in Europe (specifically Finland)

Are there any legal age restrictions to work as an au pair in Europe (specifically Finland)?
I'm going to be 17 and turning 18 at the time when I want to be an au pair. I know most agencies only want 18 and over, but I was wondering if there were any legal restrictions on working as an au pair, specifically in Finland.
Other - Europe - 2 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
18 yr old is seen as a consenting adult in Finland, so there are no restrictions on working. Even 16 yr olds can work as au pairs, there are just some restrictions on how much you can earn in a month (i.e. how many hours you can work, so you'll have some spare time too as you're a minor). But if you're 18 when arriving to Finland, there'll be no problems! And you can also hit the clubs, buy your own beer/cider.. ;)
2 :
There are some legal restrictions for workers under the age of 18, but usually they are pretty meaningless in ordinary jobs. Actually when you're at least 15 years and graduated your school (takes 9 years in Finland, so usually all the 15 year olds have done it) you can do most of the same jobs than the ones who have turned 18, as long as it doesn't involve something you need to be 18 to do (like driving a car or selling alcohol), but as an au pair 15 years should be enough. The most important restrictions are about working hours. Maximum working hours can't exceed 9 hours a day or 48 hours a week, and you can only do 80 hours of overtime work during a year. Now I don't know how they count the working hours for an au pair, but I'm fairly confident that the working hours are normally within the legally set limits.

I'm a hippy, he's a lawyer...will it ever work out

I'm a hippy, he's a lawyer...will it ever work out?
Hey everyone! I have been going out with my boyfriend for almost 3 months. He is wonderful in every way, he is very serious about us, we share the same values about relationships, marriage, family, child-raising, he is very supportive and understands me, he's unbelievably romantic and a gentleman and i can say in every way he is just the ideal person for me. The only thing that troubles me in this relationship is that he is studying to be a lawyer and that means he can only get work in finland (where we live right now). I'm half finnish and speak finnish perfectly so it's not a problem but a half of me is lebanese and i grew up in southern California (my parents live there) and i don't know if i want to spend the rest of my life here in Finland. I absolutely hate the cold weather and am not that fond of the people here. I'm sort of an artistic hippy without a real home, I traveled all of my childhood and my dream has always been to travel around the world without a destination because I feel it's who I am. I feel he is too "germanic" and orderly to ever let loose like that... He's very proud as a person and I'm more of a free soul... I feel like I am sacrificing my dream for this relationship, but then again, he feels too good to even be true, I think he has that security I have always lacked in my life and that is very scary for me, but I don't know if I can ever get used to living in one place for the rest of my life, especially since that place is not a warm place... Is this a good enough reason to find someone else who will explore the world with me? I am afraid I would regret my decision for the rest of my life... Please help! What would you do? Do you have similar experiences?

Well I understand that you must compromise in a relationship but when you tell me that you feel you are sacrificing your dream for a relationship. The honest truth is that it shouldn't be like you're suffocating to death and sacrificing your dreams for this relationship. I'm sorry to say that sooner or later, you mind end up resenting the fact that you have had to sacrifice your dreams. Its important to date someone that has the same life goals that you do. Yes opposites can work, its been done many times, but opposites need to have the same life values and the same life goals. I understand about you wanting to be free because I share your same view about travel. I love to travel. But is there a way that you can do both? In my ideal relationship, I would want a home somewhere with my bf/husband but also the ability to travel all over the world. Is there a way that you and he can give it a fair shot before giving up? If this relationship is good then please give it a shot and see if you can try to make it work, and if you can't then perhaps its best to move on. I wish you good luck in whatever you do.
3 :
You need to decide what you want. Just remember, to joint (a relationship) you will need to pay dues. What dues are you willing to pay? Once you decide what you want the rest is easy.
4 :
I think you answered your own question. You don't need to hear about my personal experience. You know that you will regret staying. Take todayĆ¢€™s emotions out of the equation and although you may also regret the decision to not take the security, that choice would eventually suffocate you. I believe you already understand this.
5 :
you can still travel to lebanon in vacations, u can live and have a permanent address in finland but who said u cant travel?
6 :
I would sit down with a piece of paper and list the pros and cons of this relationship. Whichever side wins, that is what you should do regarding staying in Finland or following your dream.
7 :
Yes Dharma, yes Greg...
8 :
It's going to be 75 today here in Los Angeles. I'll be wearing my shorts and working the the yard. Ya, sure, you bet ya.
9 :
Life is to enjoy, not endure! I have a concern for you, as you may be selling your happiness, for security! I'm from the ole hippie days, which, I still hold some of the values(yes values). It's a lifestyle, and nothing more! When your "profession becomes your lifestyle", you become the slave to it! slave or free for me , it's free good luck
10 :
I suggest you'd each be happier with someone more like yourselves.

Can I stay in the EU on a tourist visa once my work visa has elapsed

Can I stay in the EU on a tourist visa once my work visa has elapsed?
I'm moving to Finland in August and will be staying until June on a work visa. I would like to stay in the European Union and travel around for a bit after my work in Finland ends. Am I able to stay in the EU on a three-month tourist visa once my work visa expires or will I need to immediately leave the EU after I finish with my job? I am American, if this makes any difference at all. Any links to official websites would be greatly appreciated; I tried to do a google search on the subject but didn't come up with any helpful results. ETA: I realized that my original post did not distinguish between EU and Schengen countries. Finland, as well as several other countries which I would like to visit after I finish my work, is part of the Schengen Agreement. As a US citizen, I know that I can stay visa-free for up to 90 days in any Schengen country, but I don't know if I am allowed to do so after having already been in a Schengen country for ten months prior on a work visa. Hope this clarifies a bit!

Until recently, long-stay visa holders couldn't even travel to other member states.. but from your question, I'm not sure if you have a long-stay visa or a residence permit (which are usually issued for stays longer than 1 year). http://www.europarl.europa.eu/news/expert/infopress_page/023-70124-067-03-11-902-20100308IPR70123-08-03-2010-2010-false/default_en.htm A long-stay visa or residence permit can't be converted to a tourist visa after expiry though. This includes people that don't need to apply for a Schengen visa to stay 90 days as a tourist, the rules are the same. When your permit expires, you have to leave Schengen for 90 days before you can return. It's hard to give an official web site, because none that I know of actually clarify this. In truth, many immigration officials don't know the rules very well either. I received this information from Migrationsverket in Sweden, but I had to ask multiple times to get a concrete answer. If you want verification, you should contact the migration board in Finland.. and ask several different people. http://www.migri.fi/netcomm/content.asp?path=8,2479 I recommend asking your job for holiday time before your permit expires, to allow for travel. Edit: Thanks for the update GP :)

I would have fully agreed with Elizabeth's answer if the question would have been asked before the 5th of April 2010, the date the new EU visa code went into effect. http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=OJ:L:2009:243:0001:0058:EN:PDF .. In the Handbook for the processing of visa applications you can read on page 65: Examples of short stays before, during or following after a long stay: A visa applicant who has stayed in Spain for 6 months on the basis of a national long stay visa or a residence permit may be issued a uniform or limited territorial validity (LTV) visa immediately after the expiry of the long stay visa or the residence permit. http://www.info4alien.de/yabbfiles/Attachments/handbook_for_the_processing_of_visa__applicaitions.pdf .. I don't see any reason why a visa-free stay should not be allowed whereas it is possible to stay on a short stay visa immediately after the expiry of the long stay visa or residence permit. The only problem I see is how to get the short stay documented as visa-free passport holder since entry stamps are only issued on entry into the Schengen territory. I recommend to try to get your residence permit extended for three months based upon the EU visa code or to apply for a 90 day visa at the Embassy of the country of your main destination or the country you plan to visit next if no main destination exists. Alternately if the United Kingdom is part of your itinerary go there first which means exiting the Schengen territory and re-enter to through the next country you plan to visit on the continent. Be aware of the fact that the 90 days of authorized stay applies to the entire Schengen territory, not a single country. http://www.swedenabroad.com/Page____30281.aspx .. You should print-out a copy of page 65 of the visa-handbook since some immigration officers may not be familiar with the changes..

Study in America, work in Europe

Study in America, work in Europe?
Hello. I don't know how this system works, so I was wondering if American BA's etc. are effective in Europe as well. I want to get a business degree here [in America] but I want to live and work in Finland and wasn't sure if I had to do anything extra to make that possible. I'm sorry...I'm not sure how to word this question, but if you think you understand, your help is appreciated!!

Generally, American BAs are well respected overseas. Obviously, that will depend on where the degree is from. A Business BA from UPenn or Harvard will go a lot farther than a generic state school, but American Business Education is well regarded globally. The tougher issue is getting a work permit. You don't say whether you're American, Finnish or "Other", but that will be the determining factor. Find out ahead of time whether you'll have immigration issues before you go too far.

Blackberry cellphone charger working in finland

Blackberry cellphone charger working in finland?
Hi, I just bought a Blackberry Storm 9530 from ebay, and I live in finland. And the seller lives in the US, so the charger is probably one that can take 110 volt or something Im not sure about how high voltage it is, but i know its different from europe. So im wondering, will the charger he's sending work here? or will my phone explode? Or do the Blackberry chargers have switches? Or will it work with any voltage? Please answer quickly, If it won't work I'll have to buy a new charger.

The charger's plug will have American pins, so you'll need an adapter to use it in Finnish sockets. That should take care of the voltage difference too, but ask when you're buying it.

The best way to immigration to Europe is to graduate from a university in Europe. If you want to work and live in Europe you need a residency permit and a work permit. You will not get this residency and work permit unless you have special skills or have your own company. Special skills are being a doctor or an engineer. Graduate from university in Iran, then get a scholarship to a university in Europe.
2 :
Indeed your wish is the same as many throughout the world. Unfortunately there is a limit to the amount of foreign nationals to which countries can take in. When outside of the EU countries then in principle the only way to obtain a working permit is to hold a skills which is in demand by one of those countries (and this skill is in short demand in the domestic or EU (where applicable) market. Also you would normally be required to speak the local language I can safely say that waitoring is not such a skill which is in shortage within Europe. Therefore my advice would be to either look for a waitor's job in Iran (if this is the industry you wish to follow) or to educate yourself with a University degree in a profession which is in high demand by countries
3 :
I'm Danish, and if you wanna get a job in Scandinavia you need to speak the language. The only other ways of getting around this is working for an international corporation that will sponsor you, or study at a university. Scandinavian immigration laws are harsh - you could end up sitting the next 7 years in a refugee camp. If you must go anywhere, learn the language.

At least some information can be found here: http://finland.fi/Public/default.aspx?contentid=164318 Don't want to scare you too much though, but because of the ongoing economical crisis within the EU, the job situation among foreigners in Finland is not very good at the moment.
2 :
As a UK/EU national you are allowed to stay in Finland for three months (or up to six months as a jobseeker) using your UK passport. If you want to stay in Finland beyond this initial period you must exercise one of your EU treaty rights such as gaining employment, becoming self-employed, attending university, or being self-sufficient without needing public funds. You do not need a work or residence permit to work and live in Finland. However, you must register your presence in the country with the local police within three months. ============== "As a Union citizen, you are free to enter Finland without a visa and reside in Finland for a maximum period of three months without registering your right of residence. In order to enter the country and reside there you must have a valid identity card or passport. As a Union citizen you must register your right of residence at the latest when three months have elapsed from your entry into the country. Registration takes place at the police department of your municipality of residence, and a written certificate of the registration will be issued to you (certificate of registration of the right of residence of a Union citizen). If you are a citizen of the Nordic countries, however, your registration will be handled by the local register office and only if your period of residence exceeds six months." Residence rights when working in another EU country http://ec.europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/residence/worker-pensioner/rights-conditions/index_en.htm Frequently asked questions: EU citizens http://www.migri.fi/netcomm/content.asp?article=3444 "Citizens of EU/EEA countries do not need a residence permit, but they will have to register in their local police in Finland if their stay exceeds three months." http://www.finemb.org.uk/public/default.aspx?nodeid=38103&contentlan=2&culture=en-GB

Yes. My girlfriend's dad bought me videogames in Japan and China and they worked on my PS3 that I bought and modded from Mexico. The PS3's are a lot cheaper in Mexico. Don't know why though.
2 :
Yes, each country is part of a group. North America and Japan are NSTC (region 1), Europe is part of PAL (region 2), some discs usually movies can be played on all regions. You can tell the region of the games by looking on the back of it, there will be a little symbol of a map with a number on it.

You don't say where you are from, if it's the EU you have a wider choice of possibilities since you can move to the Nordic countries to look for work. If you are from outside the EU, you'll need specialised, in-demand skills to find work here. It's very difficult to get a work permit for general labor or unskilled work. There is a lot of offshore/petroleum work available, especially in Norway, so that would be a good choice. Here are some possibilities, the more education and experience you have in that field, the better: -Engineering (petroleum/offshore, mechanical, chemical, electrical/electronic would probably be the best choices). -Some sciences (chemistry, geology). -Some technology, although you'll need extensive education/experience because there are many lower-level tech workers. -Healthcare professions (nurses, doctors, etc) are in high demand. -Qualified teaching, a graduate degree is best. If you want to work in the Nordic countries long term, it would make things much easier for you to learn a local language. While it's possible to get oil/gas work with only English, this usually means working for a British company in Norway. If you speak a Scandinavian language, you have more chance to be hired directly.

I think you're on to something with the list. Specific locations require specific certifications. I know a teacher from Florida who wasn't allowed to teach in another state until she received a specific certification. But there is no global convention for normal jobs - such as office work / wall street etc. It's just a matter of convincing the employers of your qualifications. Now, in America, we do require work visas (green cards) - which has nothing to do with a degree. I don't believe they are hard to get if you are a skilled worker - but I've never tried - being American by birth.

Our school system is socialistic. That's worked so far.
2 :
The USA has to many conservative knuckle heads.
3 :
The size of the population.
4 :
Socialism works for a little while but eventually all socialism fails.
5 :
again and again, i see people who dont understand what socialism even is. Ok. for the fifht time, the nordic countries are not socialist. They are social democratic. Which means that they retain a capitalist economic system, but have a large amount of welfare programs and such. in socialism, there is no capitalism. there are no social welfare programs.
6 :
Those other countries do not have socialism. At best they have socialized medicine because they felt some things should be above profit.
7 :
They aren't socialist. They also have more homogenous socieites. America has too many challenged cultures: several ethnic and racial minorities in the U.S. are overwhelmingly wedded to poverty.
8 :
Sandinavian countries have relatively high economic freedom. The US has a problem with inflationary monetary policy that undermines any growth.
9 :
Intellect.
10 :
those on the dole in the US are too stupid to keep their mouth shut and cash their checks...
11 :
Population, and the people of the countries you named overall are probably more intelligent and don't waste. Tribes were socialist in nature; berry pickers, hunters, fishermen, farmers, wood gatherers....all brought their supplies together daily where they were shared. Understandably it doesn't work in a large complicated country.
12 :
Those nations do not have pure socialism, they are capitalist, like us, but have decided to socialize more programs..such as health care and educational support for those who want to go to college.
13 :
First of all, socialism does work when there is no greed. Trust me, I lived in Sweden for 10 years and if anything, socialism ain't working there, so they do have capitalistic loopholes in order to help bring up their economy again, but then they let it sink back to where it was. A cycle. VOLUNTARY socialism is what has worked in the past, and still does. Several communities in Russia operate under pure socialism, and pretty well too. The Israeli Kibbutz was one of the key factors in bringing Israel "out" of its desert state, and creating fertile land. Socialism only ever works when it isn't forced, mainly because those bitter who ruin the system are the ones forced into it. It's NOT because "everyone is greedy", it's the use of force and violence to achieve ends that's the problem. If America was to take a completely free market, you'd be bound to see large, socialist communities come up and actually operate.

I am not an expert, but I think a lot of it has to do with size of population and world influence. Countries like Finland, Denmark, etc. can be more socialist because they have fewer expenses. Their smaller populations make it easier to deal with issues involving public education, public healthcare, etc. I think Finland has around 6 million people. The United States has about 307 million, so problems here are much larger in scope and sheer number of people; at a certain point, the size of government needed to solve these problems for us becomes impractical. The same can be said for our military presence. America, along with China and Russia, is one of three countries with the clout to change the state of the world all by itself. As such, we require a large and resource-rich standing army, so we need to divert a lot of our government resources to that end. Countries like Sweden and Denmark have very small military expenses because there is no reason that they need a large army. Who is going to go to war with Denmark, and when will Sweden and its 7 million people be a strong enough force to occupy another country? Those nations just aren't big enough players on the world stage to necessitate such large armies. The United States, on the other hand, certainly needs a vast military presence. As such, we cannot have the kind of government involvement in private matters that socialist countries can. Scandinavia has such wonderful education and healthcare systems because most of their tax contributions go to those causes. As countries with smaller populations, their problems with poverty and such are smaller, so they don't rely as heavily on some of the things we do. Basically, socialism works on a small scale. The USA is simply too big, too complex, and has far too many groups of people with far too many kinds of problems for a system like that to work here. The government could never manage it all, and in trying, they often just complicate things more.
15 :
Did anyone tell Australia. America has always been socialist. Some just can't face facts.
16 :
In what respect does it not work in Australia? Australia's hybrid public/private universal healthcare system is one of the most effective in the world? Progressive tax rates, quality universal education, little in the way of financial limitations on advanced education, have all made Australia a wealthy prospering nation with one of the highest standards of living in the world.
17 :
Population. Those scandinavian countries that people use as evidence in support of socialism each have a population smaller than New York City.
18 :
Denmark does not have socialism. It has a mixed market capitalist economy (one of the most competitive economies in the world) with a large welfare state. The reason why this works is because people trust each other and the government much more than in places like USA where there are large gaps between rich and poor and political leanings.

Work/Live in Finland

Work/Live in Finland?

people in helsinki speak fluent english. but if u go to the outer skirts of town like espoo. prepare yourself cause people there dont talk english that much and u might have a hard time communicating with them.
2 :
work would be very difficult without speaking Suomi. unless your work doesnt require talking with customers.
3 :
Well, the other answerer is totally wrong with the English skills of Finns, namely, English is the primary choice for the first (compulsory!) foreign language at school across the whole country so we Finns certainly know our English (except people older than 60 years of age)!!! But, the problem is that to have a Finnish citizenship requires a passing of a language test, which means that you cannot have the citizenship without any Finnish skills here. The universities here do not offer whole degree programmes in English so that is another problem too.
4 :
There are only a few possibilities for obtaining a visa to live in Finland, and without citizenship with an EU country or direct Finnish ancestry, it's difficult to get one. Visa based on work: You need to have a job before you can apply to move to Finland and work there. Within the EU, a country must show they advertised a position locally and couldn't find a qualified EU worker, before they can hire you. It depends a lot on labor shortages within specific fields, and generally requires extensive higher education and work experience. Due to the time and cost involved, it makes more sense to hire a local. It's easy to get around Finland as a tourist using only English, but the working language for most companies is Finnish (or possibly Swedish). It's a necessity to speak one of those languages, otherwise finding work will be very difficult. With no particular skills or education, a company will always be able to find another applicant that can do the job, that speaks the local language in addition to English and can start work right away. The only other real possibility is a study visa. To be accepted to an undergrad program, you need to pass a fluency test in Finnish. You have to show you have at least Ć¢‚¬6000/year for support before you can get a permit. There are graduate programs in English, but you'll need a Bachelor's degree for entry. Your best option is to go to university in the US, and do a one-year exchange program without the language requirements (you would learn Finnish during that year). Alternately, you could do all your undergraduate studies in the US. It's important to start studying Finnish as soon as possible if you're serious about moving, it's listed as one of the most difficult languages to learn as an English-speaker. Once you've completed your degree, you could apply for graduate school in Finland. With an appropriate degree from Finland (and language skills, by then) you might have a possibility of finding work.
5 :
You can literally move to any country and have the same problems/challenges ahead of you. Generally speaking finnish people do speak good English. Other problem is that they don't usually hire people with immigrant background that easily unless you have a magic skill that is hard to find. Getting a job is no easy task even for a Finn these days. Living in Helsinki area is more expensive than in the other towns so you'd probably end up having no money after all the expenses. Public transport, apartment rent, food are expensive and salaries relatively low and taxes high. If you're not EU or finnish citizen your taxation rate is higher also. Let's not forget that we have comparably high unemployment rate which is officially 7% but don't be fooled by that. If the only factor was paid jobs it'd be about 14 %. If you really want to try then I suggest that you try to get some kind of temporary summer job and apply for the temporary working visa permit. There are American companies in Finland aswell but usually they don't hire much staff as it is more economical to employ people elsewhere. You'd have more luck in some English speaking country. The games are the same as the DVDs if your console is NTSC and the discs are another format. Example: PAL it wouldn't work. simply the format of your disc has to match the format of your console to work. PAL works with PAL. NTSC works with NTSC..etc.

if its ntsc ya i have pal and i bought a game from malasiya thinking it would work so remember think before you buy

Nope it really isn't that legal, although the police isn't authorized to make them stop the act but after they are done they can arrest them. But they won't be held at the police station for long, because I think public sex really isn't legal here, but not many really wants to see it lol.
2 :
The police are allowed to interfere only if it disturbs other people in the public area. If someone complains basically. In essence it's not illegal as such. legal or not, come summertime and couples become rather creative in places to have sex. law doesn't necessary come into it, it's just tolerated.

Probably easiest way is to directly contact company you are interested. Do not only send you current CV, but also tell extremely briefly why they would benefit from hiring you. You should have some kind of special ability or skill also, current job market for IT people in Finland is quite limited and hiring foreigner who has just finished his/hers school doesn't sound very light decision. If you really want to work in Finland, and you are ready to study more, try to get into Finnish university (it should be almost free), get another degree and start working while studying.
2 :
As stated in the other answer the employment situation is not good in IT field in Finland. The industry is undergoing serious off-shoring to low-cost countries and many many people are losing their jobs. The coders and programmers are the ones getting laid off and then fired from their jobs. Business ethics are bad, only money and profits counts. Productivity is constantly being supervised in spreadsheets and the management makes sure that you get high impossible goals that you'd never achieve. That's the way to squeeze every drop out of you and when you're done... you get laid off and later fired due to production and economical reasons even if the company has hundreds of billions in their growing bank accounts! That's the way it is today. You should consider less production-like job which is essential for some employer. I'm just telling you this just to save you from a big disappointment. How much do you really want a job in IT and why? If the times and business ethics were like in the old days when people had some value it'd make a big difference. I have to warn you that 3. level degree doesn't guarantee you any kind of better job in Finland. We got so much education around here so it's suffered an inflation. Foreigners are looked down to and even if they were with a good education background they'd most likely work as a cleaner. If you can get any kind of job in some country that has bigger multinational companies in there, like IBM,HP, Apple, Google, then i must say that UK & Ireland is the good place to go job hunting. You need to get that degree first though.

Is my straightener the right voltage for Europe/Finland?
I have a wet 2 straight Remington straightener and I was wondering if it will work in Finland. I know I need to buy an adapter but I was wondering if the voltage is okay. The Straightener says 120/240V - 60/50H, 158W. Will this straightener be okay to use without a converter? Thanks

Yes, we use 240V in Europe so your straightener will be fine. Finland uses the 230 V 50 Hz standard.

I'm not quite sure about how popular this career is in Finland but I can give you some advice on living and language, Accommodation and living for most is deemed pretty expensive you would need a job. As you say future I would suggest you start on learning Finnish prompt because to be in a medical based career in Finland would require you to speak Finnish fluent. It's extreamly difficult to find a job with little Finnish and swedish also. The best thing you can do is try and find a Finnish teacher where you live, learn while you are looking for a job on the internet. Make sure you have everything set up before you actually make the move. Here is a link where you can chose between Finnish Courses, you learn, speak write, review and submit your work and native finns will rate and correct your work, it's very good. http://www.livemocha.com/ This website is great for learning Finnish it's informative, great fun and has audio. http://www.uuno.tamk.fi/ http://www.oneness.vu.lt/fi/ Here are some Finnish language games.. http://www.digitaldialects.com/Finnish.htm If ever you need help with pronunciation here's a great/amusing link. just insert any Finnish word you want to hear and click kuuntele puhe (listen to speech) http://www.mikropuhe.com/demo.asp Get learning, do your research and have fun. If you want to work in the public sector in Finland, depending on the sector, you will have to get your qualification recognized by the National Board of Education in Finland. You can continue studying in Finland after completing your degree in your country of origin.
2 :
It depends on your country of origin, the qualifications you have and their compatibility with the requirements in Finland, or other Scandinavian countries. Foreigners are usually asked to pass some kind of test to bridge the gap between whatever diplomas they hold and the ones required. This goes for most countries everywhere. The exceptions are multinational companies - if you find employment with one of these, maybe you won't need to pass any exams, including the local language. I know a lot of foreign people in my country, but they all work in international companies, so nobody speaks the local language, apart from a few everyday phrases, of course. I suggest that you narrow down your search to your target profession and then contact some employers to hear the info directly from someone in charge.
3 :
You don't need any qualifications for casual kind of jobs like cleaners and such. It is very hard to get a job in Finland unless you're the best candidate with exceptional skills and believe me there's no lack of well educated people in this country. Academic unemployment has been rising every year in the 2000's and is even higher than in the last recession. I don't mean to be pessimistic, but this is reality. If you have any higher education you've better chances in other European countries. If you select Finland then you need to lower your expectations about your career.
4 :
Where is the world going? There is so much unemployment.
